Acceptable use policy

Faultfolio is a private evidence log for one owner and one vehicle. This policy keeps the service safe, lawful and dependable, and forms part of the terms of service. It is deliberately proportionate: almost everything an honest vehicle owner wants to record is fine.

Use Faultfolio for your own record

Use your account to document your own vehicle and your own dealings with garages, dealers, insurers or finance providers. Do not share your login with others, operate accounts on behalf of a fleet or business, or attempt to hold multiple vehicles in one consumer account.

Content that is not allowed

Do not upload or store material that is unlawful; that infringes someone else's copyright or other rights; that contains malware; that is harassing, threatening, defamatory or abusive; that shows indecent or sexual content; that consists of other people's personal or financial data you have no proper reason to hold; or that you have fabricated or altered in order to mislead a garage, manufacturer, insurer, ombudsman or court. Do not use evidence uploads as general file storage unrelated to a vehicle fault record.

Evidence uploads accept only the supported photo, document and audio formats and are subject to a per-file size limit. Attempting to bypass those limits, disguise a file type, or upload deliberately harmful files is a breach of this policy.

Respect other people in your records

Your notes and photographs may mention garage staff or other individuals. Record only what is relevant and factual for your own fault history, avoid unnecessary personal details about third parties, and remember that anything you export or send onward is your responsibility once it leaves Faultfolio.

Do not misuse the service

Do not attempt to access another user's data; probe, scan or overload the service or its backend; bypass authentication, entitlement or payment controls; scrape or resell the service; interfere with billing, reminders or emails; or introduce code intended to damage the service or other users. Do not misrepresent the introductory offer by creating repeat accounts to obtain it again.

Safety and emergencies

Do not rely on Faultfolio, its reminders or its reports to decide whether a vehicle is safe or legal to drive. Urgent safety concerns belong with a qualified professional or, where there is immediate danger, the emergency services. See the safety disclaimer.

Reporting and enforcement

If you believe content or activity breaches this policy, contact us using the details below. Where a breach occurs we may remove offending content, restrict a feature, suspend or end access, or report matters to the authorities where the law requires it. Where it is reasonable and lawful to do so we will explain the problem first and give you a chance to correct it, and any action we take will be proportionate to what has happened.
